Hello
From your description, the owner has more sentimental value attached to the car than what it is worth.
He will see the graphic design, signed by the artist, as a unique selling point. The fact that he comes by every few weeks to start it means that he is still attached to it...and someday will get around to restoring it. Also, he may start it, but does he ever drive it? So the engine is ok, but the rest of the car is rotting away from the inside.
Its a L-82, 4 speed car, with most of the parts there.
It will need a new paint job, possible problems with emissions, since side pipes were not a factory installed option, some interior work, and much mechanical restoration.
Given those facts, somewhere around $3000 would be a good deal.
But the owner will be sentimentally attached, think about the high price that a prized Corvette will bring...and probably tell you $10,000.
You would definately have to see the engine compartment to have a bid estimate. If the engine compartment is in the same shape, run down but still workable and savable I might start at $3000 like the others said but would go up to $4000 if I had to. I have paid $4000 for 2 of my parts cars that were both autos and not in good shape. I would definately pay $4000 for a 4 speed.
[QUOTE=427SIXPACK;1558781249]UPDATE US WITH MORE DETAILS ON THE "FUN BAGS "
MAYBE INCLUDE A.........??? A ???? PIC ??? [/QUOTE DOH!!!!!! sorry didnt take a pic of mural but they was nice in that mid 80s pre-implant era
I paid $ 3500 for my elkhart 73 roadster in that same condition. It realy depends on where you want to go with it. The purchase price was music to my wifes ears , But she had no idea that Full restoration of body, paint, drive train, brakes, suspension, and interior could run over $35,000. And that is doing a lot of it myself.
If you want to use it for a driver you can spend half of that.
My car was missing a lot of parts, and when i started, I went a little to crazy with the catalogs.
Im not trying to discourage you just prepare you.
I don't regret it at; In fact i'm ready to do it again.
