Default Lt-1 Convertible

I have a lead on a numbers matching blue-blue 71' LT-1 convertible. It needs new intertior, paint and just about everything else, but it's all there. And no, it's not the one thats been on ebay. I have some pics I'd like to post but I'm not that sophisticated with this forum yet. The car could basically use a frame-on resto but it does run and drive. I'm just wondering about what you guys think it's worth. I'm signing off now til Monday. I'll look for any responses then. Thanks.

I'd imagine it would bring about the same of a BB vert the same year and condition because it should be considerably more rare. However, I am sure everyone's going to need detailed pics and a good overview of what's left that's original to get a fairly accurate estimate of value. Sounds like a very fun and wise investment if you can buy it right and restore it tho.

BTW, It would be an out of the ball park home run, if it were a '70.

Even better is a 72 LT1 vert with AC.

If you plan on running the car, the '70 LT-1 convertible is as good as it gets in a stock small block Corvette.

I like the '71s. Almost the same performance as the '70, but will run no problem on today's unleaded gas. How is the car mechanicly? Does the engine, tranny, rear, and suspension all need rebuilding? All original? Pics would certainly help. You could be talking $15,000- $22,000 would be my guess.

Okay guys this was my first attempt ever at posting pics. I apologize for any inappropriate sizing and also for the darkness of the pics. The building where the car was located did not have any windows and very poor lighting.
Although I did not drive the car I did start it. After not having been used in a great while the car did start right up and sounded fine. Dont be shy and take your best shots.
I am not totally unfamiliar with C3s as I have a 72 big-block coupe. But when it comes to establishing some sort of ball-park value, these LT-1 cars are something of an enigma to me. Some people love them passionately and some would say the big-block will always be the trump-card. However you see it I think this is one cool car. It's got it all but it just needs some more.

Finished they are worth between $32,000 and $45,000. With the amount of work that car needs, somewhere between $15,000 and $22,000 should buy it. The Lt1's seem to be bringing big block like prices. Looks like most of the car is there. Good luck.

Check out the frame and numbers!

It all depends on the condition of the frame and birdcage to what the car is worth. The frame you can see. Birdcage rust is hidden so you need to look for signs that it might have problems.
Does the windshield leak? Any signs of rust under the dash? Does the floor of the car have signs that water has leaked in? A shot birdcage would make the car be very difficult and expensive to restore. Know what you are getting before you lay out the cash for the car.

The frame did seem to be fine. However, because the building the car was in was so dark I couldn't see as well as I would have liked to. The windshield posts looked ok but there was an excess amount of windshield sealer around the windshield so it must have been out at some point. That did concern me. I have not checked the cage.

I forgot to mention the car does have it's original hard-top.

Looks to be a complete car, I'm in no way an expert on those cars, but would definitely be interested in that car if I had the money. Just curious, how did that C1 behind it look?

I would buy it for $10k if the numbers are matching. LITERALLY! That would give me enough room to restore the car myself and not have more $$ in the car than it's worth. I am kinda cheap tho. I am sure it's probably worth a little more. Very appealing project. I must admit.

You can lighten pics up and see more detail, even after you take them........

Looks like a nice project with some real potential. Needs TLC but otherwise appears unmolested. My '68 BB 'vert was in similar shape when I bought it. Let us know how the deal works out.
