Default Help Decode This 69

I'm looking to buy this 69 427 4 speed.

VIN 194379S726142
The block is stamped T0723LM 19S726142.
Block cast is 3963512 F169
Trim 402 986

I did not notice a build number above PAINT on the trim tag. Has anyone seen this before?

How do you tell the build date from the VIN?

Where is the numbers on the trans and rear?

Thanks

Car serial 26142 was built in early August 1969. The engine was built in Tonawanda on July 23 and has a correct code for a 427/390. The block was cast on June 16, 1969.

Or original colours were Cortez Silver exterior and black leather interior. Sounds nice.

The transmission assembly stamping is on the passenger side of the transmission, stamped vertically along the raised portion of main case near where it meets the tail section housing. Example would be P90720A.

The rear axle assembly stamping is located on the bottom flat surface of the center housing section. Located adjacent to the center bracket that holds the rear leaf spring. Example would be 1 AX W 092 E1.

1) Never heard of a trim tag without the build number???? It's the number that tells you the date it was assembled. Perhaps a Monday morning of Friday afternoon car???
2) The Black Book tells when the last serial# number was built for each month of 69. August 69's last was 728107. Since July 69's last # was 725875, your's fall in between. Therefore, Mid-August.
3)Answer above.
Sounds like a nice car!

Thanks for the replies. I checked the trim tag again and it has M05 in the upper corner, not sure how I missed that one. This is my first Covette. Would M05 be Augest 05?
