Default Headlight Removal

I just wrestled out the passenger side headlight assembly. There has got to be an easier way than what I just went through! I ended up taking the whole thing apart inside the body!

I thought I could unscrew the 4 main bolts holding the actuator assembly to the body and pull it out from the bottom. This doesn't seem to be the case. The lower part where the switch for the indicator light gets in the way.

I'm sure many of you have some tips on how this comes out!

Thanks in advance!

Ha Ha.. I guess I should clarify a bit more!

I've got to pull the front clip and need to remove the whole front head light assemblies! Not just the lights themselves.

I had the same problem, tried to take out from the bottom by taking the main 4 bolts out, I could not get them out in one piece so bolted them back in for now. I have the front bumper off now so am going to try again. But hope you get some replys on what were missing.

Take the headlight ssembly out in two sections. 1st the section the lights, trim rings, and buckets mount to by going under the car and unbolting the three 1/2 inch bolts on each side that hold the pivot bearing in. There is a pivot beaing on each outside (2 per side) of the assembly and there are 3 bolts that hold each pivot bearing in place (6 bolts per assembly).
Look at my photo below and the pivot bearing is the silver part in the middle on the outsde edges (remember, this photo shows the whole headlight assembled in the expanded/flat view).

Once you have undone those six bolt, you will have to take out the one large bolt that connects the link to the headlight assembly. This bolt is located on the back side of the headlights right between the two and has a bracket (link) connecting to the actuators.
With that bolt removed, the headlights can be lifted out of the car from the top. Just turn it sideways as you lift to clear the pivot bearings on the outsides.
Nixt the bracket that the actuator is bolted to and connects to the vehicles body can be removed. There a 5 1/2 inch bolts that hold this in place and can also be removed out the top by turning it as you pull it up.
