Default One guy can't do it???

thinking of diving in to some aggressive projects on my C3. i live in a rural area and have to do it all myself. no one around to help. just wondering. is there anything one guy can't do or at least can't do safely on a C3. for example, i've been told it's almost impossible for one person to install the hood alone. true? anything else one guy couldn't reasonably do? thanks.

one determined guy can do anything!. Example... I hung my hood from the ceiling of my garage by the rear latches. Then simply positioned the front of the hood over the hinges and installed the bolts...done.

Next challenge?

It can be done...I have done hoods, engines, transmissions, interiors, superchargers ect...in a one car garage.

I see no problem with the light weight hoods by yourself.

don't try to put the Keisler 5 speed in by yourself . if you follow the direction it will not work with just one guy . but you can remove the engine enough to move it forward 2 inches and get it to fit perfect by yourself . been there done that . it's still the best thing for a c3 you can do especially at 75 mph or above and your wallet .

by the way the hood is easy just be sure to tape your fenders to prevent a scratch .

Only job I can think of I could not have done alone was putting the body on the frame. Every other time I had help just made things easier

If a man speaks in the forest, and there's no woman around to hear

Of course!

The only thing I can't do by myself is bleed the brakes...Oh wait, you can with a power bleeder...

I've done engines, transmissions, doors, hoods, rear end.

I'm convinced I could lift the body too if need be...

You do need to be more carefull and build more fixtures etc, but it can be done

just remember safety...good jack stands, eye protection and keep a cell phone in your pocket in case you get in a jam (assuming it will work where you are).

I have done all my work solo - engine, pulled th400 2x, put in a tko600, rear, hood, brakes, etc....

Dont be in a hurry and think before you act...

Cheers,

Crunch

I've done everything on my Vettes by myself EXCEPT install the hood and the radiator. Had to get the wife to help.

you can do anything with a few tools and some common sense. i just installed an entire step side bed(fenders and all) on a 70 chevy short bed pick up by myself with an engine hoist. just take your time you can figure it out.

I agree with all the above "solo" comments. Sure you can do it, but wouldn't it be better to make some friends?

It's a lot more fun drinking beer and working on the vette with your buddies.

The return on build quality is negativley porportional to the amount of beer consumed -- in other words, as beer consumption increases, build quality decreases...

To clear the upper a-arm, you need to slide the rad and the shroud down together. It is possible to do it yourself, but it's much easier with two.
