Okay guys...my Girlfriend is a MAC user. Nothing I can do about that...she's a graphic designer and that's what they use.
Anyway, she has all pirated software, which includes her Norton virus stuff. I explained that's not smart because it won't update and get new definitions.
I need to know from you MAC people what virus software you like and what's cheap.
I use AVG on all my PCs and it's amazing but there is no MAC version.
Never used virus on any of my Macs at home, on my fourth one. I believe most hackers go after Windows because of the amount of Windows operating systems out there, Mac is in the minority. Never had a problem.
DB- I've been on MAC's since 1986 and have yet to get any kind of virus. If your girlfriend is concerned, go to Mac Wearhouse to see what they have. Apple sends constant updates which include virus and security updates. Macs have a small market share so it's mostly a waste of time for virus geeks to infect such a small percentage of machines. No bang for the buck basically.

Your girlfriend has good taste in computers, sounds like she's a keeper. I agree with GD70. I've had Macs since the first one came out in 1984 and I've never had a virus.

I know it's not supposed to happen, but her unbeatable iMac G5 is locking up, shutting off by itself, and losing paths to her iTunes. Either she has a seriously screwed up OS or she has a virus.

Not likely a virus...but just in case, check link below..may help...
Most likely the OS. Insert the original OS CD, hold down the C key during start up and then see if everything works properly. If so she'll need to reinstall the OS. Try to back up everything on a CD first before the reinstall.
Good Luck.
