I've got one with a broken spring pin. Got a replacement and went to remove the old one. Won't budge. Is there a retainer that you can't see? Just pry it upwards? Cutting torch? C4? I saw a tool on CC but it doesn't have a pic. I have a mental picture of a device with a timer and large warning label telling you to set the timer and run.
Also, how do you adjust the alignment? I see that there are some nuts at the motor transmission. Is this where you do the fine adjustments with the gross adjustment based on where you place the arm over the spline?

on a 77 there is a really light duty spring steel retainer that clips over the serrated stud ....its not much... try applying the pressure in different angles around the retaining hub....it should line up fine if it goes on right...jsut keep taking it on and off until you get right and then push down hard to set the srping retainer
maybe a small pick could pull the retainer back from the groove under the serrated part

I had to replace my left wiper arm in December. There is a retainer clip/spring locking the arm to the spline shaft. It would be easier to remove the spline mount with the 3 bolts and then take the wiper arm off. Remount the spline to the car and then mount the new wiper arm by pushing it down on the spline stud (get arm as close to final position as you can before you push it down in place) and you'll hear the retainer clip snap. Once it's back in position the transmission push rods can be adjusted where the ball joint is. You didn't say which side but the driver side goes under the passenger side and rests against a stop when not being used. Hope this helps.

there is a tool for taking the wiper arm off, i just saw it today, while looking in a copy of ''corvette restorer''from the n c r s ... it said it can be bought from j c whitney,it has a clip that goes at the back of the wiper arm and when you squeeze the handel it realises the spring tension and the wiper arm comes off from the spline,,it a 5 dollar tool ,, the mag is at work and when i get there in the morning , i will post the name of tool ect,,it also showed a set of wipers on a car that were ''off'' this must be why sometimes mine hang up and lock to each other when on the fast setting, they probably need to be adjusted father away from each other to keep from locking up
From: In the shop most of the time,,, And it BEER TIME somewhere
This is the small clip that holds the wiper on. Its very easy to push it up with just a small blade straight screw driver and pull the wiper arm, might have to move it from side to side a bit if its not been off for a while.
thats the tool its on page13 of volume 33 #2 fall2006 ofthe corvette restorer..says the lisle part # is 65750,& most auto parts stores should carry it.
