does anyone know why i did not work for three days and did not even feel like working on my vet.all i did was shovel snow, shovel snow, and shoveled more snow. i do have a nice warm shed to work on my car but all i do when not shoveling is look on this darn computer. i must put left door panel back on change heat pad under hood and give car coat of wax. if i was working at my full time job i would be bitchen i never get time to work on vet. O WELL maybe this darn winter made me lose interest in car, ialways need an excuse
It's easy to lose motivation...that's why the average car project takes five years.
To get back on track, start with a small job on the car, and work into the bigger ones. Maybe have a few buddies over for a few beers out in the shed and get a wrench turning.
An article in Auto Weekly a year or so ago. They did a poll, and asked a few thousand people in random locations how long their project took and why. It was a five year average, and the biggest reason was motivation.
If nothing else, I would think warm weather would motivate you to get moving, once it finally came around. I think there's nothing wrong with stepping away from a project for a while. Last winter I stripped my car getting it ready for paint and I was at it evey chance I got. This winter's project has been painting and detailing under the hood, but I can't seem to be as motivated as I was last year. Maybe its' the cold weather for the last month, but also the car was brand new to me last year.
I haven't touched my for a couple of weeks either. For me it's partly motivation and partly the fact that it's so darn cold. I hate to run the garage heater when it's 4 degrees outside. It's supposed to warm up a little this weekend. Hopefully I can get out there on Saturday. I ordered a new front bumper cover yesterday. I want to start getting the car ready for it.
Yeah I lost some motivation too, mainly due to the fact it feels like i'm working in a meat locker. And it's so cold when I look at the paint and stripper cans they say, "don't even think about it".
It's the winter that's doin' it! Early sunset, cold, snowy nights. Doesn't sound like Vette working weather to me.
I've been off and on mine for the last month. It's been so cold it takes an hour just to get the garage warm enough to where I don't have to keep a jacket on!
So...I'm going to watch the Daytona 500 this weekend, see the Vette pace car lead the field, then start to get motivated. I still have a few things to do before the 70 degree days get here. Like:
1)Change my power steering hoses(one of 'em is really bad!)
2)Address the starter wiring(have some electrical tape hanging down there)
3)Replace the top radiator hose(the loose alt. belt flopped against it long enough to get through to the cord)
Have a good weekend all ....now...Let's go Racin'(for now)
It was 25 degrees this morning when I fired up my 76 and came in to work, 55 and not a cloud in the sky when I took it to lunch .. freebird blasting as the highway acceleration ramps gave wot opportunity ... man I'm still grinning and I have the drive home to look forward to

Hey, the guy who help me somewhat on improving my 82 just gave up and 7 years later (like 150K miles) I am retiring my 82 to pleasure (1,000 per year) and his is still not even finished.
It is the Winter weather, cold, ice, and lack of sun. I haven't been able to work on my 70 for a couple of weeks because of the cold and it bugs me, gets me down. But, the days are getting longer and it will soon be warming up enough to get back to it. It is tough to do, but just relax, cool out, and soon you will be back in the groove.
it is called SAD, no not the feeling of impending doom and gloom...
SAD= Seasonal Affective Disorder
We want it to be warm
We want the days to be longer with more sunshine
If we don't get our way??? it is a form of depression!!!
Those of US (me included) that suffer from this condition struggle ALL winter to get ANYTHING done. We may as well hibernate. We CRAVE bright sunny days, any of this sound familiar???
