Default Build Dates?

Maybe someone here will know or can help out in info. In looking at the Rowley site at production numbers, they indicate July as the last month of production for a 68 vette. I reg. my car on the Corvette reg. and they gave me a build date of Augest 14th. So now I have no idea about when my car my have been built! can anyone put some clearity to this issue? Oh and my vin code shows 28227 as a prodution number. Body code is not clear to read but looks like an "H" 07. Thanks for any help in this you guys can do. Manuel

August 1968 was the last month of production for the '68 cars, so the August 14th date is feasible. Your serial number is 339 from the last car produced (28,566) ...
Don't know what the "H"07 refers to ... ?? If you look at the trim tag in the driver door arch, you'll see a letter & number at the very top over the word PAINT ... that is the build date of the car. August letter would be "M" followed by a date.

The H 07 is what appears to be on the plate in the door openning. The 07 is clear but the letter is not clear at all. I say it may be an H as all I can see is the two legs at the bottom up the letter and asume it is a H but not sure at all.

"H" would indicate a March 1968 build date.
From your earlier post, your serial number has a birthday date of August 14th, so even the easy-to-read "07" on the trim tag adds some confusion here. (the trim date and birthday date can be off by a couple days, but I've not heard of 7 days).
Do the interior and exterior colors match the trim tag?
Do you have a good clear picture of the trim tag?

Yea the color and interior match the trim tag. I'll get my girl friend to take a picture of the trim tag and post it up. Thanks for the help. It does seem conflicting info between the trim tag and the vin# The trans and engine numbers match the vin, the rear end does seem to match what I seen in the AIM book I have. It is 2AV8-5-68 on the bottom of the housing. The engine has an HO which is what the car is too. Base engine auto trans.

the rear end date is August 5th --- pretty darn tight for a "07" build date. (AV is a 3.08 posi) ... what is the engine build date on the front engine pad ?? (numbers just before the HO)

Default Trim

Why would H be March? Does this apply to 69 Vette? Based on my Vin number it should have been built in April. The Trim Plate says I01, but what is wierd, it dont look like any of these http://www.novashop.net/info/trimtags.htm it has CHEVROLET written across the top

Manuel,

Sorry I have been late to the post, but here is some information for you.

You can only see a couple legs of a "H", but really you are looking at an "M". You body date is M 07, or August 7, and the Aug 5 diff date is close but OK for this time of production based on others I have logged. Of interest may be the next car I have in my database, #28234. This car has a body tag date of M 07 also so I would guess that Aug 14, 1968 was the correct date for that car too.

What colors was your car and is it a coupe or convertible?

JOE
