Another tid bit about top fuel engines...when a nitro funny or top fuel rail drops a cylinder and gets all squirlly, it's from the loss of down force on that side of the car upsetting the balance of traction. Each header pipe produces 700 pounds of DF at WOT.
current fuel-pump technology can pull 90-95 gallons-per-minute, not 11+ gallons-per-second:
the fuel-cells only hold 14-17 gallons per run, and I suspect the figure of 11+ gallons is for a complete 1/4-mile run.....
Schumacher ran better than 4.441 last year (4.42x? ) for a new National Record, and he can run over 280 MPH in the 1/8-mile:
he reaches 100 MPH in less-than 57' (that the team will confirm ), and runs 60' in .83x-seconds.
Some crew chiefs believe the crank actually 'twists' during a run, and that rod-journals may-bot be 90* to each-other:
there is some thinking that cams should be ground with the rear-lobes out-of phase, too, but nobody is confirming that.
Don't kill the messenger! I pulled this out from an email sent to me awhile ago. I realize that a couple of things are now out of date/incorrect, but it's pretty amazing nonetheless.

No-offense meant, 427-390!
It seems that at every track, with the exception of Denver @5800' elevation, these guys continue to go quicker/faster (which is why some of that E-mail data is out-dated ), even-on marginal surfaces, and with Glendora continually trying to slow them down:
Tony Pedregon set a new Funny Car National E.T. Record this weekend at Fireturd Raceway, never-known for exceptional track-prep!
I have an '04 TL also, bought new wanting to try out the reliability myths. We test drove the Pontiac GTP and the TL, I have to say even with the deep discount on the Pontiac, the TL won us over. Darn quick, naturally aspirated, great road car and the resale value can't be overlooked. After 30+ years of GM products and some major "not covered under warranty" issues with my last 2 daily drivers (LS1 oil consumption and roof rotting out and more) I decided it was time to try an import to see if there was really a difference. Love the TL, but you can not compare a Honda to a Vette. That's stupid.

Glensgages,
No offense taken.
I know that every day, week, month, or year, new records are being set. It is truly amazing just to watch these cars fly down the track.
i had the same thing happen to me.. a guy in a bmw said to me "you know what sucks? having an automatic" and i said "you know what sucks? every year the value of my car goes up while yours goes down and down" he got in his car and drove off
Tell him you would rather have a sister in a ***** house than a brother in a Honda. Honda , brought to you by the same people who brought you Pearl Harbor .
lol i used that parl harbor line today, it was GREAT mr cocky didnt hav nething to say!
I wonder how many Caprice-engined 1975-79 Vettes have LOST to Hondas at the strip??? I doubt we'll ever know. You can bet the losers won't admit to it.
