Default Door mirror fix?

My passenger side mirror is a little wobbly. Is there a way to tighten the head to the stem? Stem to door is fine. Head to stem is loose.

You will need soak the mirror off with thinners and then get inside. You may need to screw a bracket across the ball inside. Another member posted some photos of something similar a while back and it looked good. Sorry I dont remember who, Durango Boy probably would know.

The head is held on the base with two phillips screws that come up through the base. Remove the door panel. Roll your window up. Remove the two nuts holding the base to the door. Tighten the screws holding the head in place, and reassemble.

His problem is the head to the arm. The whole thing needs to be taken off the door, then the mirror soaked in thinners so it will float off the the head. Inside there is a ball on a pivot which needs attention. I saw where another member had screwed a plate on over the ball to give it more tension.

As mentioned above....soak the head in mineral spirits. This disolves the RTV that holds the glass in place. Carefully remove glass. The mirror head is held to the stem by a strap across a ball that is attached to the stem. This strap across the ball is held on either side of the ball with screws or rivits. Remove screws or rivits. Either bend the strap flat again....or flip the strap over and re-attach it to the head. You might have to drill & tap for small screws if rivits were originally used. A few dabs of RTV on the head....and set the glass.
I did this for my cheap repro mirror and it works like new again.

Sport Mirrors - remove door panel, then remove whole mirror assembly from the door, then tighten the head onto the base from inside the base.

Yep. Sometimes it's just cracked inside. I had to buy a new driver's side from Rik's.

Be sure to put some loctite in on the screws when you do it. I had my mirrors off last year for paint, tightened the screws and they kept it tight for about a month or 2 and now the driver's side is now wobbly again.
