I've heard a lot about balanced and "blueprinted" engines as well, but dont know what it means either. C'mon guys, someone has to know what it means to have an engine blueprinted. . . please help us

The term "blueprinting" as it relates to engine rebuilding is one of those oft-abused bits of car terminology. Literally it indicates that an engine has had all its engineering dimensions (i.e., deck heights, straightness/flatness, bore diameters, crankpin diameters,bearing clearances, etc.,etc.) measured and either verified to be within the manufacturer's specified tolerance ranges or corrected by machining to bring them within those tolerances.Hope this helps...

Well put. To "blueprint" an engine is to bring it to factory specifications. Because almost all engines are mass produced, they are usually close to engineering specifications, but not perfectly up to snuff.
