Default Gasket Material Help

Does anyone know what the gasket between the front spindle and dust shield is made from?

There was none there when I stripped my spindles - either disintegrated or not replaced by someone previous. Is the gasket something I can knock up myself as I can't track any down out here...

Sort of asbestosy stuff. Mine were OK, so I put them back in. I think Dr. Rebuild and Zip's have them.

Sorry guys, I should have given more info. My "new" spindles should be here today and I want to get them all assembled and fitted this week - I don't really want to have to wait another 2-3 weeks for the gaskets to arrive from the US.

Because there was no gaskets there when I stripped them, I didn't realise there should have been something there and that's why I didn't order them weeks ago when I bought the spindles

Be creative,
Get some leather material that is about 1/16 to 1/8 inch thickness. You would be suprised at the result. Let us know if this works.
Good Luck
Steve

Leather will work, or you can get some fiber-type gasket material from an industrial supply house.

Hehehe, industrial supply house indeed! There isn't even a Yellow Pages here, the only way to find somewhere that might have something you want is by word of mouth or by walking around town

However, I've sourced some fiber type stuff from work which should do the trick. Thanks for the input guys...
