010 dated Jan 69?
I just had a gentleman call me today (sat.) and ask me if I would be interested in a 4-bolt main, Jan (14th I think) 350 Block, get this.... a 010 block. Chevy by the numbers said it wasent being made until late April, early May!
This guy told me he works for GM and he said the casting date is clear as day and he said you would be suprised as to what GM has and does do...
So..... I think the $400 he is asking is a fair price for a std. bore, been fluxed and soft plugs are out...... Ready for build.... Thoughts? I wanted to build a dated 350/350 for my 69 vette that was born April 1, 1969

Hey Chuck,
The 3970010 is still a very common block. There were tons of them in many applications and a LOT of trucks had them too. You should be able to get a complete rebuildable engine for $400.
$400 for a bare block is more in line with what I had to pay for a 3782870 (375hp 327) block for my '64 which is a lot harder to find.

IF it has been magnafuxed then it should have been hot tanked too and in that case it is not a bad deal because these proceedures add to the total cost of a rebuild.
Problem is, how do you know it has been magnafuxed, without any documentation you are taking his word for it which runs you into another problem, do you want to spend $5000 on a rebuild on block that was supposed to have been magnafuxed ?
