Default T-Bar molding questions HELP!

I have searched the world and forum over and found no specific advice for re-installing the t-bar molding on a coupe. I know the helpful / knowing members will set me on the right path!

- When I removed the t-bar molding, the front edge (where top windshield trim meets) had a foam seal along the entire length. The AIM shows the same but would seem there is a better alternative to insure no water can enter. What is the best method to seal under the t-bar molding trim along the front?

- The corners had what looks like plumbers putty under them and also in some of the voids. What and where should I use to seal the corners?

- The back edge of the t-bar molding (center) also had foam strip as well. What is the suggested method to seal this area as well?

YOUR HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Black silicone works well or you can by butyle tape for installing windshields for about $12 roll at NAPA, works well also but needs to be real warm to use. The butyle tape will be more original looking.

I did mine last year. 3M makes the product. It comes in a blue box and I got it at Carquest. Some people call it Dum Dum. It is stickey but it never hardens. I used it at the rear of the t-bar and in the corners. Use it on the rear t-top mounts on car. Once I had the winshield moldings back in I took black silicone and place a bead agianst the windshield and trim. Once dry trim with razor blade. No water will ever enter bird cage.

Picture was taken before car went for paint

Thanks for the responses. I did not think the original foam strip looked very effective.
