Default Chrome bumper retrofit

Hello all. I'm looking at a 1973 LS4 4-speed coupe for sale locally which I like but there's something about the mixture of the rear chrome bumpers and the front endura nose that I'm not fond of. I know most Corvette owners are strict when it comes to originality so I'm hoping I don't need to put my flamesuit on to ask this question: How difficult is it to swap the earlier (68-72) chrome bumper front end onto this 73 Stingray? Anyone done it?

I appreciate any insight on this.

Not easy. It shouldn't cost you more than $3-4,000 and a paint job ($5-6,000) and destroy the value of a desirable vette. 73 are desirable because they are the transition between chrome bumper and rubber bumper vettes and are a one year only design.

If you like them either way buy one that was built with or without chrome bumpers. It will be much cheaper in the long and short run.

Good info, seems like a larger task than I'd imagined. I was hoping that it was just a few bolts to remove the nose piece and a few more to install the older style bumpers utilizing the same pick-up points. I'd only do this if it were a retrofit that could be easily changed back when the mood (or market-value) dictated that I should.

Thanks!
