Rear Differential questions
I am looking at a 78 to buy but the diff is shot the owner says the pinion broke. How is the best most ecinomical way to go about fixing the problem? New unit or rebuild and where would you buy one?

As for the 78 diff. You have to open it up and look at it. Could be common late C3 problem of a ring gear bolt backing out and locking up the diff. Could be a broken posi case or broken gear. All the above may turn it to 100 lb piece of junk. If you do open it up be sure to witness mark the caps.
