I need to buy the paint Monday to repaint interior. How many cans will it take ? Or, what about the quarts, has anyone used them ? I would like to go the quart way actually. I will be using CA paints and their customer service can't tell me how many to buy. Also, I tried to buy the SEMS locally, does anyone know if there is a dead on match for the carmine red (82).
Doing a color change so I am painting EVERYTHING but the door panels and seat skins and carpet.
Just finished my interior re-rye,however, I did not do a color change. I bought a pint first to see if the color matched as there was some confusion about the 81 red. The color turned out to be really close. I then bought 2 quarts of red and a quart of black, it was cheaper to buy a quart of black "tint" then it was to buy a smaller quantity. I have about 1/2 quart of red and 3/4 quart of black left over.
I used dupont "wash and wipe" to clean, about a quart and SEM plastic activator, about a quart.
Still have the steering column and rear blind to do.
Buy it buy the quart , just did mine with spray cans and it took about 8 cans, ithink it would be cheaper buy the quart. 8 x $18 a pop cost a $144 and make sure you get prepsall to clean the parts first. Good Luck

For what it's worth, I did my seats only. Took 1.5 cans of aerosol.
Good luck and like TexasC3 said, TAKE YOUR TIME. I cannot be happier with how much better the car looks. Seriously, it seems more fun to drive now. Faster too

I know all about how clean vinyl and plastic has to be to get stuff to stick. I usually wash first with Dawn dishwashing soap, let dry, then 99% alcohol (get that from work, VERY expensive) then DX330 wax and grease remover. I hope my 82 will be faster after this.
