OK--I know this topic has been talked about a thousand times..
BUT I NEED A NEW DASH FOR MY 78 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would think that
there would be only a few places that make a reproduction dash. Some
better than others.. Who are they ????

I believe Corvette America is the only manufacturer of dashes.

There are two aftermarket suppliers of 78-82 dash pads.

1. Corvette America

2. Al knoch

I have actually owned both of them, I bought the corvette america dash first and didn't really like the fit so I ordered the Al Knoch the second go around.

Here's what I found:

1. Both dash pads don't fit nowhere near as good as the original so don't expect that when you get it. But they are acceptable over a cracked dash.

2. Corvette America dash comes trimmed on the backside against the firewall, the Al Knoch dash didn't so be prepared to spend an hour doing some carefull trimming when you get it.

3. The corvette america dash uses strong plastic tabs to mount the dash under the column to the guage cluster, the Al Knoch uses flimsy metal tabs to secure the dash......it still gets the job done though.

4. Appearance wise, both looked the same.

I ordered the Corvette america dash from Wilcox before I had issues with thier customer service, cost around $370 + shipping. I ordered the Al Knoch dash for $350 shipped and loved the customer service.

You'll save some money with the Al Noch dash but you can tell Corvette America has been making them a little longer.

I still have the Al Knoch dash in my car

I went and looked and the only thing I seen listed in the nqp section was a "wood' dash kit for $149.....is that what you were referring to?

I have the NQP in my car and am very happy with it, I'm still not sure what made it NQP, but it was the right price.
