pulled tank down on my '69 and part of my tank sticker was still there. good news is that the section with all rpo codes was there and i can see how original my car is. bad news is that the section with the vin number is gone. is a partial sticker as good as not having it at all?
Tank stickers do not have vin numbers. A tank sticker has to "fit". The line number should match the tank sticker, but a tank sticker other than parralleling options is just not the end all of documentation. Something is better than nothing however...
...is a partial sticker as good as not having it at all?
Partial is better than nothing. As posted, the VIN is not on the tank sticker, but you might be able to figure it out. Are there any handwritten numbers on the sticker? Example: "327" handwritten. Add 500 to 327 which would equal 827. Last three digits of the VIN would end in 827.
there is no writing on whats left of my sticker. does the "job number" on the tank sticker correspond with the number writtin in crayon on the bulkhead in front of the tank? the number 205 is on mine.i'm sure the factory never would have thought that this little production line document would end up being so important to people later on. is there any definitive way to link a tank sticker to a particular car?
how long did it take to lower your tank? and was it hard? or what was the most difficul part.....rodney1120
hey rodney1120...removing gas tank is an easy operation if you have any mechanical skills at all. just remember to loosen up one exhaust hanger to allow tank to drop.
