I have a 1978 Corvette. It has not been restored but runs great. There is a large piece of chrome around the rear window. The inside edge of it was painted black and is badly worn off.
Does anyone know how to restore the black to this Chrome edging.

Simple
Wet sand any and all the chips down with 220 or 320 grit depending on the severity, then go over it with some 400 grit.
Get a can of dupli-color trim black spray in the can from your favorite parts store and begin the re-spray
apply a light mist first and let it tack up, then apply a second coat to cover evenly, and it wouldn't hurt to do a third. Let it dry for a few hours before you handle it.
It helps to have the trim off the car and weather is at least 70 degrees
It helps. they make a special chrome primer which eches the chrome to help the paint stick better. But it can be sprayed in a small area w/out.
the best way to fix this is to remove the trim & repaint the entire piece.
