Ok...Most of us know that Armor All leaves a silicon residue which can be months, sometimes YEARS in getting off of a surface.
Well, I'm pretty sure there's some on the dash of my C3. And of course, I'm trying to clean it off, because it feels oily and REALLY slick & nasty...The previous owner probably used it thinking it was going to keep the dash shiny (In the 70's, Armor All probably was the popular thing to use).
Anyone know of any products I can use to get it cleaned off?
Wash it a couple times with Dawn Det and warm water. Then you can use some wax and grease remover, I used the same stuff I use when I paint a metal panel. Did all of this before I dyed a dash and had no issues.
Fantastik spray cleaner works well to remove Armorall without using damaging solvents. Use a soft bristle toothbrush to get into the grain and rinse with hot clear water and dry with a cloth. It might 2 or 3 applications to get all of the Armorall off. Then find a product that will soften the vinyl but won't leave a residue such as Murphy's Oil Soap.

When I was going to refinish the plastic interior components, I purchased a product made by Sherwin - Williams.
It is called "Aqua - Prep SC155". It is specifically for removing silicone residue.
