I have about a 5" section on the very top of my passengers side door panel thats not cut, but pulled out from under from the metal strip.
Im debating on if i should try to repair the panel, which would entail taking the top strip off-I'm not sure how well that would go- or if I should just buy a replacement. The condition other than the one bad spot is good and they are original. If i went the replacement route, should i replace both or just the one bad one? Has anyone ever just replaced one panel and did it match? I've been wanting to do something with it because its an eyesore, but I want it done right. Any help would be appreciated.
I'd suggest taking it to an auto upholstery shop and have them repair it. They would know what to do and it wouldn't cost but a few $. If they can't repair it I would definitely replace both door panels not just the one. You can bet they aren't going to match if you just replace one.
I'm quite sure an auto upholstery shop will be able to repair it, it's at least worth asking.
Looks it may have pulled out from under the window fuzzy? If so remove the panel, remove the window trim (fuzzy as some call it) move the material back into place, glue it in, replace the trim...done, or take it to the shop and they will probably do the same procedure for you.
Thanks guys- Good idea. I'll check on having it done professionally- I think that is the way to go. I'm thinking that would be better than replacing them, because then I run the risk of the panel carpet not matching the rest of the interior. Thanks all- I'll let you know if i can get it repaired, oh yeah, thanks resto-rod for the compliment on my car
