Default coolant leak

Someone told me that coolant is corrosive, is this true? The heater core on my DD gave out w/o my knowledge and leaked coolant in the car soaking the front carpets. What should I do?

Just vacuum up coolant with a shop vac....then scrub carpets with soap/water...vacuum again...as a final clean, use Tuff out of a spray can...

I'm just worried that it might rust out the floor boards, no? Thanks for the advice Rich.

Pull the carpets up, clean them, dry the heck out of everything, and if you're still concerned about rust, maybe a little LPS 3 on the floor before the carpet goes back down.

Your 81 ought to have factory undercoating/sound deadener on the floors beneath the carpet and pad.

The floor boards are fiberglass. Clean it up and you'll be fine.
