There is a small spring loaded button on the body of the switch itself.
Pull the **** to it's out position, then press that button, and finish pulling the **** and shaft out of the switch.
It's so easy you'll kick yourself after you get it out. Just remember that you cannot push the button until the **** and shaft are in their out position.

what he said. You have to be a contortionist to get to the button to push it though.
I was just about to ask about this, I feel really stupid now lol. When trying to get the stock one out I couldn't figure it out and since I had to replace it anyways I just pulled and it broke.

Did you stumble on this thread or search for it? Glad you have some insight for the next time.
I searched for it, for as I read these things get asked alot. I actually already recieved my new switch and put the **** in to check the lights and then realized that I was an idiot for doing that without having put it through the dash pad. All is fine now, Thanks

Been there just did that...now i have to get a new one..duh :o
Found it. There is a slotted threaded cylinder that screws in from the front bezel that is visible after removing the ****. Used a wide screw driver to take it off and install the new switch. Headlight problem solved too.
Thanks for the replies.
