Default Detachable / quick release hood hinges?

Does anyone have these installed on their car, and how do you like them? Also, I f I purchase the hinges, do I need a new hood support, or use the existing one? How difficult was it to line up the hood?

I don't have hood pins-or even a hood for that matter, but I was considering putting them on my car. I would also like some pics/install tips.

I know what your talking about and they are a good idea, just too pricey for my taste. Aren't they around $300?

I've got 3 hoods and use masking tape around the hinge before removing the hood before removing it.

These right?
$180 for the black ones and $295 for chrome.

Yes, those are the ones. I found them from Corvette Central for 189.95 for black or 299.95 for chrome. I was interested in how well they work, and how hard they are to line up and install. I am putting a lot of money into my paint and body and would be very upset if I screwed up the hood/nose while working on the lights, radiator, engine, etc.

You'd have to fab up a hood support then. The stock one ties both the hood and fenders together. I saw these at Corvettes at Carsile last year, some guy said he invented them and was showing them off and selling them. He had a broom stick holding up his hood if he didn't want to take it off. I think it also took two people to safely remove the hood without scratching any paint.
I don't see a great advantage to them. How often do you lead over the long nose of your vette? except to remove or install the engine, hopfully you don't do that too often.
Otherwise the hood upright doesn't bother me much.
Now a tilt front end would be nice!

I bought a set in Knoxville last mth. they were not to bad to install and line up. When I went to remove the hood after I installed them it was very hard to slide it out of the pass side. After I got the hood off I figured it out. The straight pin was at a slight downward angle.
I went the pull it up a little and snap the spot weld that holds the straight pin in broke. I ended up removeing that side, bending the hinge up just a little and rewelding the pin in.

It works fine now. But it is expensive and just like everything else it may need some minor mods.

The left side was dead on a far as height goes but I had to add a spacer to the right side. I am doing the body work on my car at this time and by the time I had the hood off and on severial times I thought it would pay for it self. So far hood removed twice and it lined up right every time.
