Default Sandblasting

After sandblasting my birdcage, I realized that some of the fiberglass bonding strips has sand "pock" marks on them. It is a very rough surface, which intrigued me. Could I possibly sandblast fiberglass parts, which are to be bonded together, instead of hand sanding with 40 grit? I'm not referring to the main body - I hand sanded the whole thing because sandblasting ruins fiberglass (the pock marks). Just a thought. Any thoughts? My panels are all SMC.

I wouldn't do anything to it, the pocks are excellent mechanical bonds the the panel adhesive, same thing as the 40 grit scratches.

That's what I was referring to. When I reattach my inner fenders, I want to sandblast the areas where they will be bonded to the front clip. It will create tiny pock marks for the adhesive to mechanically bond to. Will this work?

Ahh, I see now. Yes that would work, but it is a huge PITA cleanup. For all that n that case I would just use a grinder with 40 grit disk. All you need to do is scuff it up. Even useing a spot blaster it makes a Huge mess. You could be done with the grinder in less time than it would take to clean up the blast material. I also don't know what effect whatever blast material stuck to the glass would do
