Has anyone encountered issues with allergies to the carpet in C3 Vettes? A co-worker has a severe rash allergy whenever he comes in contact with the carpet in his '80. He's been told it's due to mohair content (?) He'll have to get rid of it, short of an alternative. Possible to buy carpet sets of other materials?
Thanks!
Bill

I would bet that there is some mold forming in the carpet. See if he has any problem with touching the carpet in the rear compartment (where it probably hasn't gotten wet). If no problem, then try the same test with floor carpeting. Mold is really a difficult problem to get rid of...if that IS the problem, you might want to re-carpet the problem areas.

if you call ask for a guy named Jason. I have ordered an 80/20 loop molded from them. They have a decent selection.
Your friend should determine exactly what he's allergic to. Could be the dye used on the carpet; could be something in his carpet; does his allergy pop up when he comes in contact with other Corvette carpet? Could be something brought into the car by a PO.
Quickest fix is to replace the carpet, but the real culprit is the actual cause.

I think the last time mohair was used in a car was around 1949. There is no way this can be a Corvette carpet only thing. I bet he has a mold issue.........something allergic.
