Default E-Bay Selling

I'm getting into the already crowded C3 parts selling marathon on E-Bay. Don't know many of the clever tricks yet. I have an original 68 lower dash panel with original tach, speedometer, ignition switch & headlight switch. Should I put it up as one piece or one item at a time ? Anybody else done any E-Bay selling ?

Sell the items individually.

Do some research in completed auctions and find out what your items are selling for. Go with the flow and don't try to make more than is reasonable or it won't sell.

Take lots of good detailed pictures.

Include a good detailed description of the part being sold, and show in any way you can that's it's good and usable and free of damage when it applies.

Make sure your parts are clean and presentable, and take the pictures where there is plenty of light and the image is not crowded with other items.

Take pride in selling every individual part and it will work out for you in the end.

The more you break it up, the more you will get ....
but the more work you will need to do.

Good Luck

Thanks alot. That's what I thought too. I am doing Pay Pal so I guess I had it right after all. I really appreciate the input. I just love this forum.

Write detailed HONEST descriptions of the parts, and as said before use large, clear pictures. Use proper grammar and punctuation, don't write in ALL CAPS. If the part will fit multiple years put ALL the years in the item description to help people find it. Clean up the parts as good as you can. Don't rip people off on shipping, offer shipping discounts on multiple purchases.

Remember, most auctions are 7 days, meaning they end exactly one week from the day you listed it. I personally can't stand Ebay due to mishonest sellers who frequently have "friends" bid up their items. Besides. most experienced bidders either bid at the last second or have a program called "E-Snipe", which automatically places the bid at a predetermined time, usually within the last 10 seconds. With this in mind, remember to place the item for sale with the ending time in mind. You really don't want the item to end at 4 AM on a Thursday, when most guys are not online. I agree with the other replies, be VERY honest with the descirption, accept PAYPAL, don't inflate shipping, and set a RESERVE, so you don't end up selling it for less than you want. Good luck, John

The only thing I disagree with here is the reserve. It will scare a lot of buyers away because of the seemingly jigh price it conveys.

Instead, start it at what you would take at minimum.

Yup, I take that back, Durangoboy is exactly right, The heck with the reseve and just set the minimun for the least you'll take......(I forgot, the wife schooled me on this last week when I was complaining about BS reserves on Ebay.....I still hate Ebay)

I've been selling on ebay for several years and have picked up on a couple of items:
First, try to plan it to your auction ends on Sunday night at 6:00 on the west coast. That will mean that folks from coast to coast can be at their computer when the auction ends for a last-second bid.
Second, use the reserve feature and start the item a bit below it. Then set up a Buy it Now with free shipping. Use a reasonable amount that's about what you'd like to get for it plus shipping on the Buy it Now. This way, early bidders can make a bid or two and later folks don't lose the option of "free shipping". I've sold more and gotten better prices for my stuff doing this than I ever did just letting 'em run in the normal fashion.
Hope this helps!

Also keep in mind PAYPAL takes a percentage of your winnings that come through them, also the ebay fees!!!!!

PayPal is a must, but that's up to you. I don't buy from anyone who doesn't accept PayPal.

I find 5 day auctions are enough time. No one starts bidding until the last day usually......I time mine to end on a saturday.
Parts are like the cars they go on..."detail to retail" The cleaner the part and nicer the picture(s) the better the response.
