Default side mirror question.

i need to order new side mirrors for my 74. has anybody bought a kit that comes with a mounting position template? where did you get it?

i can find the kit with the gasket and screws but would like to find out if they make one with a template for correct placement.

thanks!

I got one from Eckler's I beleive. I had no problem mounting the mirror using the template. The issue my mirror has, is that the mirror is loose from the base that's screwed into the door. It does not fit as well as the OEM one (of course, ...) on the driver's door. So when I am driving down the road, the cheapo mirror bounces all over the place.

Mine had a little wobble in it at the base. I took the screw out and put a couple of small 0 rings around the screw on the inside of the base and screwed it back into place. Worked for me. -- Bubba fix --

I have a loose OEM drivers mirror on my 75 and would like to try your o ring idea.

How do you access the mirror screws....take the door panel off??

How do I remove the door panel?

Thanks

The set I bought from wilcox came with a template for the passenger side. It also came with wellnuts for the passenger side. I picked up a few more wellnuts at Ace Hardware for the driverside. (My driver side had wellnuts and they were weak, don't know if wellnuts are original... there were other holes in the area and the previous owner had some junky discount parts store mirrors on it) I don't see why you couldn't flip the passenger side template over for the drivers side if thats what you need. Hope this helps.

I have an extra right side template if you need it. Turn it around backwards for the left side. PM me your address and it's yours.
