There is a wire near the firewall called a fuseage link....I think that is the name

Anyway it is a wire that works like a fuse I guess.....I had problems starting for the first 6 months after buying .....and since replacing this wire.....riding and smiling....

good luck

Did you check the ground wire near the starter and the negative ground from the battery?

Check ignition switch. Are you getting power to the starter solenoid?

Make yourself a test light from a brake light bulb and some wire. put one wire to the large cable on the starter and the other to the frame, the light should light up very bright. Then move the one on the frame to the starter case, light should be same brightness. Same test locations, have someone turn the key, light should dim a LITTLE if the motor turns over, if it dims and the motor does not turn over there is a problem with the battery or its cables. If the starter does not turn over, move the test wire from the big cable to the S terminal on the starter and have someone turn the key, light should light up. If not, the problem is in the start circuit (key switch, neutral lockout sw, wires etc)
The fuse links mentioned above are just that a wire that acts like a fuse. There should be 2 of them, smaller wires on the large terminal on the starter. The supply juice to most of the rest of the car, sometimes they burn, usually look kind of crinkled on the outside.

...also check your ground cable where it comes out of the battery box and bolts to the frame. I've replaced 3 of these on 4 of my cars. The ground cable corrodes and swells underneath the plastic sheathing making it useless to pass battery current. Also, check and clean the area where it contacts the frame. There is supposed to be a serated, star washer to help the connection "dig" into the frame.

...the fusible link is another top suggestion.

Same thing happened to mine after the new engine was installed. Look down by the steering box...you should see a harmonica plug connector. If these corrode or are not seated properly you will get these kinds of results. Just grab the connector and pull it apart and then re-plug it in....good luck!

started tracing wires out seems I have an open from the Hot lead on the starter to the celenoid when the key is turned. Neighor thinks it might be the netural saftey switch or a fuseable link inside the car.

the 2 fuseable links by the starter are ok?

Can anybody tell me which are the color wire from key switch on the steering column cable?

Thanks in advance
