i've gotten rid of all the chrome on mine. Painted over the door handles, blacked out windshield trim painted over the side mirror. Got rid of the cheezy stingray emblems and front and rear starbursts.
I'm gonna use a special translucent paint to black out the side markers.
I think it looks more like a serous race car like that.
I wouldn't black out the side markers. That's going a little too far. Although I'm not a fan of any blacked out lights.
I'm still sticking with the chrome on mine. Too many other things to do before I get around to paint. My goal is to have it last a few hours at sebring. I plan on putting coolers on every fluid in the car. Rear end and engine oil is all that is left. Also insulation around everything to try and keep the engine heat down.
Stance is the single most important thing on any car though.
come on now be honest. If GM hadn't put those emblems on and someone invented it and put them on because they liked it, they would get run out of here.
They're the most gaudy god awlfull thing on the car. Besides the damn thing is not a stingray. That would be a C2

I think they are called "Disco Buggy"
BTW...I like your car like that. It does look pretty slick. But, I too like the 68-73 "chrome-vintage" look. BUT...I'm not a NCRS snob either. I have kept my 80 all stock/factory in appearance but...the engine, brakes, suspension/shocks, electronics are definitely modern.

I don't like it. But, if you're going to do it this way, I'd ditch the red calipers and black them out too. Looks kinda' funny with those two splotches of red.
I like a good looking modded car if it's done right. No HUGE rims. 17's max...and in this case this car looks ok...but a bit plain. I think it needs the gills to be accented somehow. If not chrome, then maybe a red hand painted pinstripe around each or something. I would have to see it to decide. The other thing that I think would make this car pop would be a really nice custom Black & Red interior. That's where I would take this car next.
On the other hand I love a nice original muscle car. I have a friend doing his second SERIOUS custom C2 (63) and I love his taste. He also has a NCRS 65. I like both a lot. It just depends on how the custom is done. His 63 is about 70% done. That bad boy is gonna be sweet! 1000 hp, tube frame and the best of everything. Even did C6 door handles on it. Has old look with a hint of new. All new technology as far as what's underneath.
It's all personal taste. There is nothing wrong with a mod if it was a wreck to begin with. if it's a nice original...my opinion is leave it alone and go find something else to mod.
Considering that Duntov and most fo the Corvette design crew where the master's of modification and creating the "factory "hot Rod" (Remember the Grand Sports, the ZL1's even GMs racing program was under the counter)
Its kind of funny hearing people put down owners that want to "upgrade" their cars, to better suspension, better wheels and tires, better performance or more comfortable seats.

Did you use invisible paint on the side marker light.

I agree. Duntov, Mitchell, Shinoda and all the rest were racers and were constantly modifying their cars.
