Unfortunately, the BFGoodrich Radial T/A P245/60R15 is on backorder and we
do not have a specific date as to when the tire will be available again. We
apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you, but hopefully the tire
will be available soon.

I read the other thread on this that was up and saw that letter Mako. I need new hoops before I do the Power Tour this June and radial T/A's were what I was going to go with.
It has Firestone Firehawks on it now that look like new...but I just found out that they have not made this tire in something like 12-15 years and I am NOT driving cross country with that old of a tire on my car. A blowout at 70 would suck! Previous owner had the car 14 years so I assume he put them on when he bought it. He averaged about 250 miles a year for the time he owned it. I already put that on last weekend!
hmmmm...now what should I get? Any suggestions? Any pics of tires? Post away...I need to pick something soon so I can get them on and the car aligned.
I just got a set of TA's - 22570R15 - in one week through a local
Auto Shop. Had to pay $100 each plus $15 each in shipping because
each tire came from a different state. So, they are out there just not
in sets of 4. Good luck.
There's some pretty good tires on the market from what I've seen suggested in other threads. I have the BFG's on my '78 and am extremely satisfied with them. I have Cooper Cobra's on a different car and am just as satisfied with them. Others here have recommended Dunlop GT Qualifier as well as others.
From my own experience, I'd recommend the Coopers if you can't find the BFG's. Pep Boys Futura GLS tires are Cooper Cobra's under their name. Pep Boys will give a decent price on the tires and then charge you for mounting and balancing them. The Cooper dealer I use mounts, balances and adds new valve stems as part of the tire price. Either way you pay for it.
i just ordered bfg's from america's tire co on monday. i called personally to check bc i had heard of the backorder. i had them call bfg to find out the bottom line and told him that i NEED them by friday so he better be positive that he can get 'em (otherwise i woulda prob gone with the cobras). now i'm worried. when did you get that email from them!!!!???? i

I've had Cooper Cobras (255 60 R15) on my Vette for a few years now and I think they are a great tire as well.

I've seen previous complaints on the forum of 255's rubbing the frame on some early sharks. Also, the 245 on the stock rim width will result in a more stable sidewall. Is there no g-Force tire in these sizes?

from what i know you can actually push a 275 (60/15) onto a stock rally rim. just make sure that you have the 15X8 rim, which was standard on all models 1968 and higher. if you've got a '67 rim (15X7) on there or for some reason, or someone else has, along the car's timeline placed an old camaro rim (also 15X7) on it, it's obviously a diff story.

hmmmm...yeah but will the 275 fit in the well and not rub anything....
That's the question.
Seems like people say every car can be different from what I have read on some of the custom wheel threads. How can these cars be so different? I mean THAT MUCH to where a tire will fit on some and not on others. WOW!
DEFINATELY not in the front, no frickin' way. i think MAYBE in the back, but i probably wouldn't try it. as far as variation btwn cars... we're talking about gm, here! these cars were NOT known for their precision, fit, and finish. you're driving a pre-'73 if i remember correctly, so the front well is smaller than anyone driving post-'73 (they actually had to alter the wells in the factory for the 255 option).
think it's a variety of factors contributing to the fact that some '68-'72's fit 255's in the front. it really is a car to car thing. i'm gonna try 255's in the front but i have 245's in hand if they don't fit (with some room to spare). for the rear i'm just going to stick to 255. i think that you can safely get 265 into the rear. i've only heard about 275's from afew people. good luck!

My tire guy is way cool. He will let me return anything with under 500 miles on them and his prices are incredible. I had 3 sets of hoops on my Van before I found what I liked. I'm putting the fattest tire I can under it...and yes..it's a 69.
I bought mine with tires that size and while I thought about changing them, my friend who paints Vettes thought it looked nice with the beefy tires so I kept them that size.
