I started a thread in the T/P section about my rear spring change and how when it was done the lock washers were still loose. No offense to any who posted but NO it didn't crack the diff.
What I did find, the spring came from Corvette Central and the vinyl or rubber between the spring leafs were interfering with the bolts when I would try and torque them. I removed the spring trimmed off the excess and everything went well. The bolts really don't have much clearance and were rubbing so hard it caused the wrong torque. Yes I did check my torque wrench. 70 ft lbs on a 9/16 bolt isn't much.
Its amazing how much better it drives with the new rear spring.
As a side note Corvette Central sent me an email about the problem and they were checking to make sure they hadn't sent the wrong bolts, plate.
They were going to let me know, if something was wrong. They never did
So at this point I'm going to have a hard time ordering from them again. I've used Corvette America , Mid America , and its not about price, more of what is more correct for the car.

I also recently upgraded to a mono spring. I ordered mine from VBP directly. When I had a question I called and got right through to a technician. I would highly recommend them for suspension, steering, brakes, etc…
Hey rjken1969, I also have a 69 vette and bought the #330 mono leaf from VBP with Bilstiens sports shocks. My ride is kind of springy and it the rear bottoms out when I hit a semi big bump. I wondering if I should have gotten the #360 or higher. I don't think it bottomed out with the stock springs. How is your ride since the change? What do you like about the mono vs the stock springs? Tony
Guldstrand replacement spring...note there are no plastic liners...just washers...works great together with Bilstein Sports....shorter by 1 1/2" for more tire clearance.....
