Vin and Engine matching # ?
Hey fellas
New to the forum hope i get this right. Here I go.
I have a 1976 L82 4 spd. Engine # 16S417132 V1223CHC
Door post # 1Z37X65417132.
I was wondering does anybody know where I can get information on this motor and body. I am in the middle of a rebuild. I would like to find information on this car. Any help will be appreciated.

From you numbers you gave:off the engine v= flint engine 1223+engine build date,chc=l82 350/210 net hp engine with 4 speed transmission.as far as the vin # 1=chevrolet,z=?,37= body, x=l82,65=?,417132= serial #. which means the car was built sometime in january 76. Check on the car for the trim plate which is mounted onthe drivers doorhinge pillar which will give the codes for the exterior paint color and the interior codes and also the body build date. Hope this helps. as far as the # stamped on the engine they match the car.

Hey thanks for the help 694speed350. Thats what I thought . i just need to know if I was right. Thanks for the help. I found the trim plate but my eyes are playing tricks on me the car is silver black int.

Body – A-908
Trim – 414A
Style – 19437

Vin: 194375S105133 (i have determind this now but like to know if can match to eng, transmission etc?)
Eng: CEA127423 (front right corner stamp plate)
eng: 3959521 (LH rear corner near firewall)
eng: F30 *3* (rh rear corner near distributor)

Body #908 built by the A. O. Smith Company in Livonia, Michigan and shipped to St. Louis.

the 5133rd 1965 Corvette assembled.
replacement engine. CE indicates a Chevrolet engine replaced under warranty. Sad to say, it is not the original engine for this '65.
Any reason why you've posted Sting Ray information on the C3 forum? If this '65 belongs to you, I highly recommend Noland Adams' book, The Corvette Restoration Guide, Volume II 1963-67 These are out of print but copies are still available. This is the bible for C2s.
