Door latch removal?

Is it possible to remove the door latch mechanism with the outer skin on?

I'm painting my car and want to r&r the latches...while I'm in there.

It doesn't look like they will come out with the door skin on.

You can swap them with the door skin on...but it's not much fun. I had to change one, it was a "four bloody knuckle" job.

If your talking about the outside flapper-then take the 3 screws out of the lock and drop it down to get better access.

an easy way to do it is to just unscrew them and set them back and then put tape over them. i've never taken them out of a vette but i've pulled a lot of them out of other cars and most of the time the whole door needs to be dissasembled ,but the skin should'nt need to be removed
