Default Rubber on the road

I have a 1980 with a 427/ 6-71 GMC blower that I just got running- again. Had the car since 1999 and it has seen a few changes since then but needs quite a bit more, as with any project the list never really ends- but that's the fun of it! I didn't think I would go to this extreme when I first started and would have done some things differently but, so be it.
Next project is the interior and tires/rims.

I would like to get a wider tire and rim in the back but not sure how wide I can go without major modifications. Anyone have some ideas?
Right now I have 15 x 8 rims with BF Goodrich 225 70's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I got my vette it had P255/60/15 with no modifications. I updated to 17" wheels and went with p255/50/17 and did no modifications.

Do you have any pictures of your car from the back? Nice looking car by the way!

My 76 has 18x9-1/2" in back with no mods (I don't have a sway bar). I have 255's on it. Probably could have gone with 265's in back

I wanted to ask too- what size do you have on the front and what kind of backspacing do you have? I saw on earlier threads, 4.5-5".

I know two C3's running 275/60/15's on the rear w/stock aluminum rims. both guys have 255/60/15's on the front. I don't think I could get that much tire under my 79.

I'll take a better pix in a while, she's 1" lower now in the front and 1.5" back. Fronts are 245/45 zr17 Nitto's on 17x8 rim, back 275/40 zr18 on 18x10 rims, the back rims were custom made up, took 4 weeks, they did not offer a back space I needed, there is about 3/8" between the frame and tire. Don't know either backspace though, a buddy has worked in tires/rims since high school, he came over and measured it up,sorry. But it would be best to measure your car, they all seem to be a little differant depending on ride height and stiffness. Rims are Torque thrust II polished. Shoot, with that monster you may need fender flares and street slicks...
I need a blower or magnacharger now!
