Hello, this is my first time to the Corvette Forum. I'm working on a 1970 corvette and the headlights work but not the Brake lights or the turn signals. Anyone out there have any ideas on where I can look to fix this problem. Thanks to all that reply.
The running lights work and the ground wire is new. I put all new tail lights and ground wires in at the same time. When you turn on head lights the running lights work. All lights work except the brake lights and turn signals.
Might want to check the break light switch assembly above the break pedal under the dash to see the break pedal rod & switch assembly are making contact.
Brake switch would fix the brake light problem, but not the turn signal problem...and vice versa. It just about has to be a ground problem or a fused power feed problem.
i agree with the above posts, most common reason why lights won't work is a burned bulb (w/c should be replaced), poor grounding system, corroded wirings/cross wired, loose connections. it would be best to check on this things.. good luck

Do the hazard lights work?

Hazard lights and turn signal lights are on different flashers in our cars. But, it would prove the bulbs to be good. I would first look at the brake light switch, I had to replace mine when I first got the car years ago. Working good since then. You can pick up a switch for pretty cheap at Auto Zone or NAPA.
Thanks for the conversation. I figured out the brake problem. When I turn on the emergency flasher it blows a fuse and made the brake lights not work. I'm still working on the turn signals. I'm new to this forum and I posted a separate message "1970 Corvette Emergency Flasher" and hope this doesn't confuse anyone.
