Default C3 spare tire question

Hi,
I have a 78 Pace Car with the original spare tire. The size is195/80D15. I am takiing the car on a cross country trip, so I need a new spare tire, using the same rim. Any sugestions? I have not been able to locate a new tire of this size.

What size tires do you have on your car? Assuming you still are using the stock rims, buy the same tire for your spare. If you have different wheels, buy a spare that has the same outer diameter as the tires you have on your car now.

Just use a 205/75/15 very close to what you have.

The critical thing is that the diameter of the spare match the diameter of your rear (drive) tires. With a posi-trac rear end, if you have to drive any distance with mis-matched rear wheels, you'll damage the differential. (You'll need to learn about limited-slip diffs to understand why, if you don't know already) The width of the tire is inconsequential, but the diameter is important.
