A couple of years ago I cut a 12" by 6" hole in the heating/AC duct that runs across the ceiling of my garage. I put a return air vent with a door I could close in it.
Now I can work on the Vette in 70 degree comfort on the hottest days of the year....

Hmm, there are two hvac ducts running up the inside wall of my garage to empty upstairs bedrooms...
Go to garage sales and pick up a 5000BTU window A/C unit for 50 bucks or less....problem solved.
not in my 24x36 metal shop with a 14 foot ceiling I did buy a 5000 btu portable a/c last year, works pretty good just have to have it blowing on you, but it helps a lot
I just replaced my 4 ton HVAC unit in the house. I saved the old unit to put in the garage someday. Now all I need is for someone to come install it for me.
