Just a "head's up" on the radio issue....
The Delco head wants to see 10 ohm speakers on each side. The new ones you bought are likely 4 ohm speakers. They will work...but if you turn the volume up, you will end up frying the output transistors on the finned aluminum "convector" thingy [right dash area]. Those transistors are pretty hard to find replacements for (old design), so if they are good, try to keep them that way. Just don't turn the volume up beyond where the sound starts to distort; I'd estimate that at about halfway up on the volume. You could also add another speaker to each side [wired in series] so that the total speaker impedance on each side is 8 ohms. That would give you a better impedance match and better sound to boot! Just thought you should know.

Thanks for the info. I actually sent Durango Boy a PM yesterday about that same issue. I didn't realize the impedance difference until I saw the sticker on the radio yesterday. It says to use 8 - 10 ohm speakers only. Another pair of speakers is a good idea.

Good info. I found an original 70 radio to replace the 73 unit in my car (radio **** thing was bothering me). I installed 4 ohm speakers and put a pair in the kick panel areas for a total of 4. My radio worked for a while and now crackles and is difficult to hear at any level. I guess I fried my "finned" thingy? Any ideas as to where I can find a replacement??
