Extra $$ will depend on the deal you got with the seller. I don't think Brown or Fedex are into crating the thing up and if they are its going to be $$. Where in Fl is the thing? If its Local to me I may be able to help you out
I need a transmission shipped from Florida to Missouri.
You should fill out your profile in requests like this so people know where you are.
With Bloomington Gold only a few weeks away, there will be people going north who could probably haul it up to Illinois for you, where you could meet up and get it, especially if you are going to BG.

Thanks for the offer, but he's in Homestead, 75 miles from Boca Raton. I couldn't ask you to drive that far.
I shipped a 120 lbs TH200R4 for about $70 with FedEx..
FedEx accepts up to 150 lbs if the recipient is a business.. The upper limit to residential addresses is a lot less.
I quadruple boxed the transmission with large U-Haul Boxes and wrapped the transmission into a old comforter blanket.. Arrived without any damage..

I had no problem. Brought it to the closest FedEx location and they accepted it without a problem. I really packaged it good... 4 boxes, one in another one and everything padded with a comforter and pillows etc.. and wrapped everything in 3 layers of packing tape...
I wouldn't recommend crates for shipping with UPS or Fedex as they often get damaged..
I had bad experience with FedEx Kinkos with accepting packages. Therefore I go directly to a non Kinkos FedEx location..

Crap. I really doubt the seller will be willing to pack it that well. I'd be lucky to have him find a small wooden pallet and strap it down with rope.

I used 25 lbs of packing supplies to pack it... it went from 120 to 145 lbs.. just light enough for them to ship it..
It would have to go freight if it's strapped down on a pallet..

I sent the guy an email asking if he'd be able to make a crude box of some kind out of card board stuffed with news paper. I really hope he works with me on this. I got a super deal and if I miss out I'll just kick my own ass.
Send me the guys info, I work better than half way to homestead everyday. Would be easy to go get it. I can pack it and have it picked up here and sent to you

It's either B and M or TCI that ships the transmission in a 55 gallon drum. I suppose there is some way to fasten it down inside so it doesn't rattle around. Or at least they used to. I think most ship banded to a pallet and sent freight.
