Default Side Pipe Addition

Well I finally got the side pipes and heat shields put on and love them!
I know that some don't like the side pipes but I do. What suprises me is that they are actually more quiet than the old exhaust was. The amount of vibration in driving is almost all gone. Also eliminated a lot of vibration sounds in the car.
The heat shields were also simple to put on, thanks Bangkok Dean for the link.
Here is a pic of them also if I can figure out how to add it...

Looks good. Where did you get your hood? and how was the fit and finish? Thanks, Rod

Got the hood from Ecklers. Don't shoot me, they have never done me wrong so far. The fit was great.

Good looking car...... I was thinking someday black side-pipes and chrome heat shields on my red 79. What wheels are they.

Your car looks awesome, are those ceramic coated or hand polished stainless steel headers and sidepipes?

Just got them on last night. They seem to get warm, but not burning hot. That was what I wanted. I still park it outside until the pipes cool off before putting in the garage where my girls go.

You should find that you can touch them with out getting a burn. They also cool quite quickly. Over here the average year round temps are 95 so the pipes get really hot but touching the Shields is like handling hot toast fresh out of the toaster. But don't use butter on them.

Thanks for the inspirational pics! I just started the "pre-installation" yesterday attempting to get the rocker covers off my '72. Two frozen screws which have been soaking in Liquid Wrench overnight but I probably will have to slot the heads to get them out. I also have Dean's steel shields waiting in a box for the final touch.
