Jack up the rear, grab the wheel at the 12 & 6 o'clock position. If there is excess movement, the bearings are probably shot....mine were. The noise was intermittent, but when I turned around(i.e. u-turn), man! It felt like the wheel was coming off.
If not that, check the half shaft joints for movement.
If you just rebuilt the e-brake hardware, something might be loose, or a spring make be flopping around in there.
Good Luck!
i just dropped it at a shop..i was told by 2 different transmition shop this was the guy to talk to... he jumped in and around the corner at slow speed..it felt like i was draging a 30lb vise...he said posi clutch... he will call tomarrow after he opens it up...i've never been in one of those...read some good posts about the subject.... i think it needs a pro...
limted slip aditive...yep
12 and 6 ...no movement
sound it make...clunk.clunk..ggrrriiinnndd..pop.. pop..gggrrriiinnnddd..clunk...or some thing real close

(My husband's (NitrousDean) comment: Sounds like the clutch plates in the posi aren't releasing... which is good for taking off; both wheels will bite in the asphalt. If you put the limited slip additive in, it should take a lot of the noise away but ocassionaly you might have one wheel hook up well and the other not as well... so maybe try 1/2 a bottle at first.
