You have to replace the rear section of the frame starting about the middle of the rear wheel arch. You also would need to use rubber body mounts instead of solid since the mounts on the frame are positioned to compensate for the rubber mounts. If you can find a 73 or 74 frame in good shape you would be better off.
This was 78 frame used in a 73 I made my firts cut 1/2 down by the oval slot in the top of the frame. Then ground the welds on the side of the rails to the rear body mount. I removed the #4 monut from Then cut down.
What I wound up with was a zig zag cut in the frame. Once finished welding weld the #4 mount to the frame. This also retained the vin number for the original frame. Alot of grinding an a lot of measureing. I forgot to mention There is a vertical support just pass the slotted hole on the top rail you have to find it and grind the weld down.Just measure a lot and cut less
