Default Best Gasket Sealant for Oil Pan?

Hello,

I'm installing a FelPro one peice gasket part number 1884R on my 427 BBC.

What do you guys recommend for glueing the gasket to the pan?

Thanks,

Joe

The gasket instructions say to only use a slight dab of RTV at each corner of the gasket where it meets the block/timing tab. I use the Permatex hi temp copper RTV.

With that gasket you shouldn't need any, but as mentioned above just a dab of sealant at any corner or seam of mating surface.

I use the Permatex Black Ultra Seal on the corners. Make sure you get silicone that *likes* oil. Regular black and blue stuff is great on water..not on oil. Read the tube closely.

Otherwise it just goes on dry. I've found that after the first initial few hours of running, that you often have to re-snug the bolts to stop seeps. But once it seals..it's dead dry.

I like "The Right Stuff" you can use it on anything...much better than the RTV stuff IMO
