Default Sealing the birdcage

As a lot of C3 owners, I have a leak in the right side of the birdcage. It is where most birdcages leak (right in the bottom at the point where the bonding strip is located) . I can not afford $$$ to do a complete birdcage repair where I need to take the front clip out. I want to know if any of you out there have found a way to at least seal the hole. Maybe a rubber spray or other non invasive method. Help is appreciated.

3M automotive undercoating, big, tall rattle can. Looks a lot like the old original factory stuff after it dries.

Thanks Mike. I will give it a try this weekend. Do you know if the 3M undercoating has the skinny straw adapter so I can really get in good between the bird cage and the fender strip?

Be careful with the undercoating stuff. It any water can get under it, it will rust much worse than not coating it at all.

No straw, but I may have misunderstood what you want to do. I used the 3M on the cowl and the wiper arm trough and sealed those with a surface application. No more leak for me. I did not shoot the stuff between the bird cage and fiberglass.

I wouldn't use any asphalt materials. They dry/crack/ and dissolve with solvents.
I sealed mine with a polyurethane roof sealer ... rubbery and good for 30 years.

The one on the bottom ... Home Depot $4/tube.
Get some lacquer thinner for cleanup.
