Can a TH400 be safely mounted on a engine stand? I want to clean it up, changes filter and seals. It sure would easier than working on the floor.
Thanks
Actually, that's a pretty good idea. You'll have to use nuts on the ends of the bolts that are usually on stands but weight wise, you should be fine. Should make servicing the filter easy too.
Thanks... I was hoping I could do this, I was worried about the aluminum case. Now just have to find a good engine cradle so I can get the engine off the stand.
That looks like a complicated fixture. I'm thinking of using the "bell housing" flange to mount to engine stand. I just need to hold it so I can change the filter and seals, and clean it.
Hey while ya got it out why not swap it to A 200r while at the summit nationals this weekend I had the chance to talk to the tranny guys there, they talked up the TV cable set up and the way the tranny used the engine to set the tranny . Ive checked $900.00 shipped all the cables sounded like A new tranny cooler everything need to change somethingout not sure what it is but 33 percent better gas milage the thing would pay for itself. Just A thought Im sure someone would buy the old one too.Bowties overdrives.I think is the name of the company.
Is the 200R a "bolt in" for the TH400 with no modifications to anything? Can I use original shifter and lingage? Sounds like a good way to go now that gas 3.50 a gallon.

Check out corvettefaq,, theres a couple good articles about swapping the 400 to a 200. A few thing that needs to be done but relativly simple if you do your homework. The yoke has to be changed and the TV cable is somewhat touchy adjusting.

I bolted up a th350 to the engine stand using the trans housing bolts. No problems. But be advised normally it would also be supported by the rear mount. I didn't have the torque converter on either.
