Good reading here. Worth the price of a copy. There is also a guide for the 63-67 models. The Illustrated Corvette Buyers Guide by Michael Antonick is also a good reference source.

Keep looking around, when you find the one that "Speaks to you" you will know. Then its a matter of cost.
Cost is no problem. I just figured if I wanted one, I just want one with the least problems. They all look pretty good. Maybe the one that is the most fun to drive.
I know I want a convertible. Does this narrow it down? I can't see spending $ on a sports car that isn't.
If ya are looking to bump-up up the horse power and not stay factory, look at a 1977. Those need more hp. L82 only 210 hp. Tossed 385 fast burn with hot cam in mine. It chiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrpppppppsssss now.

I think I will have to stick to 1975 or earlier. I live in California. They are pretty strict about smog stuff.
Guess I am narrowing it down some.
So 69-75 covertable would be it. Were they all available that way, those years?
I purchased a frame-off 71 vert about 9 months ago after spending a bunch of time reading posts here and reading the book mentioned above (and some others). After doing a lot of research on various sites, I stumbled on GM Down Under in Costa Mesa, CA. John spent a TON of time answering my silly questions as I spent several hours in their shop. You may want to check-out their site (http://www.gmdownunder.com). They shoot straight and they really love Corvettes...

75 was the last year of the convertible, so that would be the latest c3 you would want anyway.
check the f/s section here, also.
