Hey guys... can anyone confirm the correct rotation of a fuel pump for me? I have a Carter M4889 and the current rotation is as follows (the pump lever going into the block is 12 o'clock position) Inlet = 6:30 and Outlet = 5:00. It is a 69 427 with Air.
Also - from research, I see the OEM must have had a male tube with hose style clamp on the Inlet and a tapped fitting on Outlet. My Carter has tapped inlets on both.
While I have the oipportunity, I want to get this routing correct, as it is a PITA after all is assembled.
Last - My new fuel lines do seem 'long'. If I could try to explain, the Inlet line is posistioned directly at the rear control arm bolt - maybe even 1" above it and 1" from it. If exntebed 1 more inch, it would hit the MSD straght boots plug wires.
I checked the AIM and it shows the OEM style of course and has the male tube pointing at maybe 12:00 and the Outlet at 3:00... Is mine that far off?
I had a rubber hose all the way to the carb - I will make this tubing as well.
OK Gents.... ned some input. Maybe pics will spur interest. What is the proper rotation of the fuel pump outlets? I re-rotated mine, but it still looks a tad close to the right siode of the frame. It will work, and I may add a protecting oversize hose, but just wanted to know if there was a standard rotation that might be best
To me yours appears to be that far off. The 3 o clock on the outlet sounds right.Yours look like they point toward the firewall. The outlet needs to be toward the front of the motor, so the fuel line can go up in front of the pass side of the block.(unless I am seeing your pics wrong.)
